Can't upload PNGs

    Hello,

I’m having trouble with the file uploader in EE. In both the Native file manager and also in the Assets plugin. When I upload a JPG it works fine, but when I try a PNG it just hangs up and doesn’t upload.

I’m at a complete loss to even know how to debug this. Is it possible there’s something missing on the server that’s needed to upload PNGs?

    THanks for any help,

    -David

In firefox when I try to upload it does something even weirder. It tries to open the control panel index page with an external editor - but only with PNGs, JPGs upload just fine.

Ok, update on this. Apparently the PNGs are uploading successfully. I can see them on the server. But EE is choking on displaying them. Again, both in the native file manager and in Assets.

    Hi Dave,

What version and build of EE are you using?

Are you using any add-ons other than Assets?

Is this a local install or hosted?

    I’m on EE v2.2.0 Build 20110622

    I’m using many add-ons other than assets. (ac_download, ajw_datagrab, allow_eecode, assets, bbr_prevnext_entry, ce_img, dashee, formidable, freebie, low_yearly_archives, matrix, md_detect_page_type, playa, pt_checkboxes, pt_dropdown, pt_field_pack, pt_multiselect, pt_pill, pt_radio_buttons, pt_switch, safecracker_file, session_variables, structure, structure_entries, template_snippet_select, wygwam, wygwam_template_links)

This is on a hosted staging server.

This previously used to work. I can’t say exactly when it started failing, but recently added add-ons include ac_download and formidable (internally developed add-ons), structure_entries, session_variables, allow_eecode, freebie…...

I can’t think of anything that any of these could contain that would break such basic behavior. And I’m baffled why it’s only affecting PNGs and not JPGs.

    Hi Dave,

Could you try upgrading to the most recent version of EE2.3.1 please so we can rule out any difference in versions with our troubleshooting?

Ok, I upgraded EE and it seems to be working fine now with the native file upload mechanism. Assets is still giving me grief with the icon previews, but I’ll bring this up on Brandon’s support forum.

    Dave,

Good to see you’ve got it working now. Feel free to post again when you need more assistance.
