Often when working in the control panel of EE and I have firebug light in Chrome enabled I get the ‘kill pages’ messaage or in other words the page just hangs. Sometimes its so bad I have to disable the firebug lite extension to get the control panel to pull up. Anyone else have this issue? I used to use firebug and firefox but firefox has just become to ridiculously slow for me to use it.

The only times that I have seen the control panel become unbearably slow (so far) are:

    1) When using Playa field with thousands of entries, or
    2) With a bunch of browser plugins installed, after a full day of debugging

You might check how many plugins you have. Any that modify the DOM are going to slow you down, and in Firefox (at least) not all of the plugins free their memory properly.

If things slow down the longer that your browser is open, try disabling or uninstalling some of the plugins. As a last-ditch effort, close the browser and open it again.

Hi Phil, it’s been a while since you posted this thread, but I just wanted to add that I am experiencing the same issue with Chrome, Firebug Lite and the EE 2.5.3 control panel. There seems to be something in the front-end code of the default control panel theme that crashes when Firebug Lite is on. It’s not every time, but it’s consistent enough that it is clearly a conflict with the Firebug Lite extension. Thanks!

I took to using chrome to work with entries and Firefox with firebug for debugging as the issue mostly seems to be with the cp although firebug does seem to slow Firefox quite a bit.

Sounds good - hopefully a future version of Firebug and/or EE will fix the issue. Thanks again!
