Groupon / LivingSocial type of build out in EE

    Hey everyone,

I’ve researched some ‘groupon clone’ software that’s on the market right now but I’m steering toward building this out on the existing EE installation (MSM) using the FoxEE module. It’s really a stripped down version of something like Groupon where I will only offer 1-deal-a-day (products) at a discounted rate for 24hours, online only.

I can see creating all entries in advance for 30 days with the expiration date set manually or automatically with a special discounted price. I could create the archives of past deals, and show upcoming deals in a daily/weekly format.

My question is, has anyone done something like this already in EE? Would you foresee any complications that I should be aware of? I’m thinking of using MailChimp as the email marketing platform for it, not sure yet if it could be automated (via RSS), or manually sent, thoughts?

Also, if you have experience building this out on some other great platform that I might have missed, please share it here.

    Sincerely,

    Martin

EE would be perfect. I’m not 100% sure about the FoxEE module though, i would probably lean more towards CartThrob/Brilliant Retail (or my upcoming Striper module, if the simplified feature set matches your requirements), but that’s up to you. EE can certainly handle the rest, and something like http://www.digitalwaxworks.com/expressionengine/chimpanzee/ might do a good job of letting you use your entries for email fodder with MailChimp.

    Happy Coding!
