I’m currently working on a new site and accompanying mobile version of the site. I would like to use MSM to manage both. The mobile site will be ready much quicker than the actual site itself, so my question is:

Would I be able to install MSM and use the main site (non mobile) as the primary site even thought it’s currently in developmental mode with a developmental URL, which the URL will eventually change when the site goes live?

    Hi klambert,

Good news! The short answer is yes. You can set up ExpressionEngine with MSM and take any of the sites online as you see fit. When it comes time to move/change domains, the guidelines for Moving ExpressionEngine to Another Server will help you make all the appropriate changes.

Not to discourage you from purchasing MSM, but it would not be required to serve a mobile version of your site. You could serve up a different set of templates to your mobile users using media queries in your CSS, for example.

Let me know if you have any further questions!

    Thanks!
