    I have a favicon.ico file in the root and a link to it in the head, but it’s not showing the most current version.

    <link rel=“shortcut icon” type=“image/ico” href=“http://ee.dbdnet.com/favicon.ico” />

    That’s pointing to the right icon, but I’m seeing an older version on the actual page. However, the correct favicon is loaded for the admin area. Is this some sort of caching problem?

    In attached photo, the left tab is the site with the old favicon and the right tab is the admin area with the new one.

    Likely your cache like you mentioned. If you have the site bookmarked you might remove it before you clear your cache too just in case the browser is storing it there.

    Hi sgoldman,

    After clearing your cahce like caddisint suggests, restart your browser too. Open another browser and see if you can see new icon there too.

    Moving to Community Help forum as more appropriate there

    I’ve cleared my cache and restarted my browser numerous times. Not sure if it’s a browser issue because other people have the problem too. And it was changed over a month ago. Could it be that the old favicon is being served from somewhere else? Stuck in the database somewhere?

    If you make a slight change to the template which is outputting the favicon does that change render on the site?

    If not then I’d say that you need to empty your ExpressionEngine cache as it may well be that the template is cached somewhere and not the browser caching it here.

    Best wishes,

    Mark
