I am hosting with Dreamhost and need to find and external SMTP provider to send out my mass opt-in emails. Any recommendations that work well with EE?

    Thanks,

    Jacob

We have used both MailChimp and CampaignMonitor in the past for more traditional email. Both have plugins available to leverage EE for managing, subscribing, and creating templates. You can search for them on devotee. For more application driven emails I would recommend SendGrid.

I assume they can use the EE user lists? Or do they maintain a separate list?

They run off of their own databases. Both have plugins to manage the subscription forms within EE. You would need to import to start then the plugin would be used to keep things in sync. There may be some other plugins that create lists on the fly though if you search around devotee.

Cool. I will look into those options.

Any recommendations of a SMTP provider if I want to use the building in Communicate module in EE?

I’d think SendGrid would be a good fit there. They have an SMTP API that is straight forward to use.
