I have searched Devot-ee but did not find what I was looking for. I want to integrate a sort of forum where users can post a request for certain documents that they would want to see in the store. It needs to be compatible with EE’s member module, because user’s would have to be logged in to post a request.

You can do that with Freeform and just wrap it with:

{if logged_in} ... {/if}

Okay, but I want to be able to post the requests onto a page or forum so users can comment on the requested document, along with ratings. I think freeform just allows me to collect information from individual users for my personal use.

You can post Freeform entries to a page.  You can also use some sort of ajax star rating system and you can use say Facebook social comments to comment.

Conversely you can use SAEF, Channel comments, and Solspace rating.

That is an interesting approach, I will consider it. Thanks for your suggestions !
