How would you set up a blogroll or link list in EE2?

    Hello!

I have a client who we’re moving off of Blogger to Expression Engine - one of the functions she doesn’t want to lose is the link list/blogroll widget.

Is there an easy way to recreate this in EE?... I saw an old wiki article on setting one up on EE1, and a plugin that sounds like it was used to set up a blogroll, but it’s not clear (OPML Parser.)  Her current site blogroll features an icon, blog name, and most recent post for each blog URL she inputs - and we’d like to be able to do the same thing for her in EE.

Any help would be much appreciated!

    Thanks~

    Hi padstow

    There’s a plugin that lists authors - http://expressionengine.com/downloads/details/top_authors/

Otherwise you can use the custom member profile tag to list authors from a certain member group etc, see http://ellislab.com/expressionengine/user-guide/modules/member/index.html#custom-profile-data-tag

Thanks Rob!  These look like they would work for site members - how could you set it up so that you have a list of “external” URLs that pulls an icon (if there is one), title, and most recent activity though?  I would guess some kind of RSS feed list, but am not sure how to go about setting that up…

The Top authors plugin supports the users profile “home page” URL so you can generate links, I’ve not tested it with other field though it only might support so many. The member custom field tag can pull in any information you like including last post etc,

There may be other addons that make the task easier, suggest having a look at http://devot-ee.com to see what’s there
