I have a site with three MSM sites, call them site1, site2, site3.
I want to create members in a member group called “Editors”. With each member only being able to manage/edit their site only and not be able to switch to another site in the CP.
How do I assign member “site1editor” to site1 and prevent site1editor from accessing site2?

Ideally, how do i remove the site selector button? to stop editors from switching to other msm sites?

Is this possible? surely it must be… how do you stop other editor group members from switching sites in the CP?

    Hi, BohBoh.

Can you tell me which version of EE and MSM you’re using?

There were some changes to MSM earlier, but I want to make sure which version you’re on before starting troubleshooting.

    Hi BohBoh,

You can keep a member group from being able to access other sites’ control panels by simply only allowing them CP access to the site for which you’d like them to access. This preference is set by going to Members > Member Groups, clicking “Edit Group” next to the appropriate group, and giving the member groups the appropriate level of CP access based on the particular site in question. The site for which preferences are shown/edited can be selected in the drop-down in the page title, right under the CP breadcrumbs.

    Does that help?

Thanks Kevin…. does that mean I need to create a separate member group for each msm site? I currently have one group called Editors which i thought I could create all editors for all sites and be able to say that editor1 can only access site1, editor2 can only access site2 etc.

Correct, groups can be assigned access to various MSM sites, but individuals cannot. You need to create a different group for each level of access you’d like to apply to the site(s).
