Has anyone succeeded in changing the server path for the Forum templates? Does anyone know if there is some place where I can change this?

    Hi neongray,

What exactly are you trying to do here? If you want to use a different theme for the Forum module then you should be able to do this by visiting :

Add-Ons > Modules > Dicussion Forum > Edit Forum Boards > Edit Board > Theme Preferences

    Does that help at all?

    Thanks,

    Mark

    Hi Mark,

Sorry, should have included a little background info. I currently store all my creative assets for multiple EE sites in one location. I actually keep them in their own subdomain on the same server, assets.domain.com (including my template files). I like my EE install to be totally replaceable, and just worry about backing up my assets subdomain. So I would be really thrilled if I could store the Forum template files with everything else. If I could set a custom server path to the theme folder (even if it’s modifying the Forum code, that would be awesome.

    Hi neongray,

Ah I think I get what you meant now.

You can change the path to the entire themes folder if you wish? You can set that in Admin > General Configuration > URL to your “themes” folder & > Theme Folder Path

Other than that I’m not sure where you would need to modify to do that sort of thing and if you did modify base code then we wouldn’t be able to offer any support in doing that or support after you had done that either I’m afraid.

    Does that help at all?

    Thanks,

    Mark

Ah I see. I don’t want to move my whole Themes folder, just the Forum themes. I don’t want to modify the code, either, so I can retain support. Okay, I’ll have to ponder on this. Perhaps I symlink on the server would work…

    Hi neongray,

Yep a symlink is probably going to be your best bet here. We won’t be able to support doing that although I can’t see any reason that there would be a problem with it.

Are you all set now? Is it okay to close this thread?

    Thanks,

    Mark
