    Hi,

I have just uploaded a fresh install of 2.2.2 onto my server, and I am getting this error on the admin pages:

    A PHP Error was encountered
    Severity: Warning
Message: date_default_timezone_get(): It is not safe to rely on the system’s timezone settings. You are *required* to use the date.timezone setting or the date_default_timezone_set() function. In case you used any of those methods and you are still getting this warning, you most likely misspelled the timezone identifier. We selected ‘America/New_York’ for ‘EDT/-4.0/DST’ instead
    Filename: libraries/Core.php
    Line Number: 227

I am on the MT (dv) box.  It’s all new to me this, what can I do to fix?

For the record it wasn’t appearing in EE2, just since I did the upgrade.

Ok, just found that its a bug report here -> https://support.ellislab.com/bugs/detail/13112/

Not really sure how to fix this.  I’m confused by the message.  Is it saying I need to update my php.ini file?

    Hi, TPP -

Yes, you will need to set the timezone in PHP.ini. Your host or server admin should be able to assist with this.  Are you able to enlist their help?

I did it myself, seemed to work out ok.

Glad to hear it! Yes, that’s a PHP warning that is the result of some stricter requirements in PHP 5.3. It now requires the timezone to be explicitly set in your PHP configuration.

Let us know if there’s anything else we can help with!
