This question may be related to a resolved thread.

    Hello,

When I click the user activation link in the confirmation email the page displays the error: “The URI you submitted has disallowed characters.”

From reading the thread above, I know that if I change the ‘?’ in my uri to an ‘&’ the activation works. But, how do I get it to stop doing that.

I am using htaccess and need to use it. Any help is appreciated.

Hi, sjc80. The original person refreshed their files and things worked again.. how about you? Are you on the most recent version of EE?

    Hi Sue,
After I saw what worked for the other user I updated to the latest build of EE 2.2.2 hoping the problem would go away. It didn’t.

    Hi sjc80,

You said above that you are using .htaccess on your site. Are you using the code that is supplied here or something else?

If something else then could you rename the .htaccess file currently on your site to just htaccess (note the missing period at the start of the name) so that it doesn’t affect the site and then replace index.php back into your Admin > General Configuration preference and try again please.

I just want to make sure that ExpressionEngine works correctly first with the .htaccess out of the equation if I may.

Also one other quick thing to check here. Do you by any chance have the Freebie extension installed on your site?

    Thanks,

    Mark

I’m sorry I never replied to this. It was freebie messing me up. I wasn’t actually using it for this site, so the fix was easy - uninstall freebie.

    Thanks.

Aha thought it might be that one somehow.

Glad it’s all working for you now.

    Best wishes,

    Mark
