Hi, I am new to EE and have created Wordpress and Joomla sites with Bitnami and then migrated completed projects to web hosts.

I did a search here in the forums for “Bitnami” and outside of seeing someone asking about a good WAMP server to use, I didn’t see anything related to installing EE2 on a bitnami instance (VM, Amazon Web Services, or local LAMP server).

Has anyone installed, configured, or otherwise deployed EE2 on Bitnami?  If so, can you point me in the right direction?

Googling for answers proved useless, as most results led me to download Bitnami or ExpressionEngine.

I travel alot for work, and like the idea of using a Bitnami LAMP VM (Ubuntu 10.10) and then building my sites with the VM. Then I can transfer, copy, or move all of my files, and create snapshots, backups. It’s just easier for me.

If anyone has any pointers or a process for how to manually install EE on a Bitnami LAMP stack, I would be very interested in hearing how to do it.

    Thanks,
    Shawn

    Hi Shawn,

    Hi Shawn,

ExpressionEngine will run fine on servers with the requirements laid down on this page here.

Anything above and beyond that would definitely be a custom install and I’ve not heard of Bitnami before I’m afraid. A quick search on the forums also doesn’t bring much to light on this I’m afraid.

As such I’m going to move this thread to the Community Help forums and hopefully if anyone has ever done this before they might be able to give some more advice on this one.

I’d also maybe say to get in contact with the Bitnami support and see if they’ve ever heard of anyone that has used ExpressionEngine in conjunction with it. Might be they have more information on that for you.

    Thanks,

    Mark
