I’m helping a friend create a timeline.  Each time is an entry - use a date field. Simple, right?  One snag, BC/BCE.

We thought we could then just have a BC/AD field (so 1/1/10000 then mark “BC” if we were talking about 10,000 BC), but I’m not sure how we’d go about sorting our dates correctly in that fashion, or if someone’s encountered this before and has a better method or can point out something simple I’m overlooking.

This one came up a while back, see http://ellislab.com/forums/viewthread/193549/ for a possible solution.

I’m tinkering with the idea in there and a BC/AD switch.
