I have the very same issue. I don’t have NSM Better Meta but I have Matrix, Playa and Wygwam.
The issue appeared when I changed the config settings from temporary URL to live URL and only appeared for channels with comments disabled. Enabling the comment seemed to fix the issue - it is more convenient for me than resetting the layout.
