Randomly began receiving this error on certain pages over the past week.

I can’t seem to find a common thread between the occurrences either.

For instance, we have over 10 entries on our about page.  All work but 3.  We’re using the pages module and using the same template for all entries.  One is a sticky, the other 2 aren’t.

I found another thread with a similar issue, and tried raising our 32M memory_limit to 64M then 96M, but neither made a difference.

The issue appears in all browsers and we’re running EE 1.7.0 Build 20101018.

    Any advice would be helpful!

After posting this, I logged into the server and did a top command.  I found that the offending pages were spawning httpd (defunct) zombie processes every time the page was visited.

I also noticed that several of the httpd processes were taking up an unusually large % of memory, although the server still had plenty free.

Seeing that the server hadn’t been rebooted in over 1.5 years, I decided to restart it.  All of the pages are loading properly now.  I’m not quite sure what the cause was, but wanted to post this in case it helps anyone else.

If anyone else has any other insight, please let me know!
