I’d like to add a “Dealer locator” functionality to a site. I found a good example here:http://fireclay.force.com/dealers but I don’t know how to implement it.

I would take a look at http://natural-logic.com/software/geofinder/ and http://natural-logic.com/software/geotagger/.
