Hi, we have a EE install that has changed hosting. Since being on the new hosting a rss feed that is http authentication protected is not accepting the username and password anymore.

I have tested if the username and password are still valid by using them to login to the control panel and that works. The rss template’s access settings also appear to be correct. Proper member group assigned etc.

Can it be a PHP config setting that I need to ask the new host to look for?

    Hi Sintra,

How are you accessing the RSS feeds? Is this via a 3rd party application or something else?

If so then could it be that something has changed in that application? What happens if you create a new username and password for the feed, does that exhibit the same problem?

    Thanks.

    Mark

The RSS feed is accessed by an iPhone app. However, have also been testing directly with desktop browser.

Nothing changed in that application. I have created new templates, new member group and username and password in various scenarios but the http authentication simply doesn’t work.

Hi, Sintra - are you running PHP as a module, or as CGI?

I am not sure, will have to ask my host. Or is that something I can tell from phpinfo?

I’d recommend confirming with your host; HTTP auth won’t work if this is run as CGI so that’s definitely worth looking into.

It is running on CGI so that explains it. Thank you for your help!
