Just upgraded from 1.6.8 to 2.2 and I get different messages.

Had some issues installing so I had to redo it. May be a reason as at first I got the message that the config file was not properly formatted. And it wasn’t. It was still the old one. Updated the config file and I no longer get that message.

    Instead I get

Site Error: Unable to Load Site Preferences; Invalid Preference Data

I use the MSM and it’s the latest version. I have assigned site_name, etc in both admin.php and index.php.

I ran the wizard once more but to no avail. what to do?

And I should add that changing ‘enable_multiple_sites’ in config.php to ‘n’ and commenting away the configs in admin and index.php, I still get this error.

    Hi Yvonne,

It sounds like your system wasn’t properly reset after the first failed upgrade before you tried it again. All the files and the database must be restored before attempting an upgrade a second time. Take care to read this helpful article on troubleshooting upgrades, especially the section on resetting the database after a failed upgrade. Give that a read and apply the considerations in the article before trying the upgrade again. If you continue to have any trouble, please let me know!

    Hi Kevin,

Thanks for your quick response. I rolled back to 1.6 but got the same errors. It seems like EE cannot get beyond writing the config, database.php and synching templates. But, I have had problems with synching before on this server, so I think it’s a server issue and I pushed on. The CP seems to work now, and the front-end comes by and by as I restore templates.

In other words, I think it’s a server issue so you can close this thread. If I have further problems I’ll get back to you, but now, enough for one day!

    Yvonne,

I’m glad to see you were able to press forward! If you have any more issues, feel free to start a new thread.

    Cheers!
