Strange kind of spammers

    So I’ve been receiving a steady stream of comment spam today on one of my sites. Set the blog to moderated, then I looked at the spam comments and the only urls the spammers are promoting are google.com, yahoo.com, facebook.com and bing.com. (base urls, no specific target pages)

    I wonder what their intention is? What could be gained by spamming those addresses?

    I’ve seen this in the past when spammers are testing their ability to spam automatically (new algo etc). Either way, their intentions won’t be good 😊

    I don’t know, it’s day 3 now and they are still spamming hard - with the same addresses. Guess I’ll just forget about it and be glad I have tools to keep them from going online… 😊

    Could it be a bot? They have Captcha plugins and extensions for spammers which I’m sure you may already have. Another thing you may want to do is temporarily add those web addresses as “curse” words which will keep them from being able to post. PM me if you need any help.
