    Hello EE Team,

it seams version 2.2.2 has a serious problem with german “Umlauten”: If you enter an Umlaut (ö,ä,ü) in a title or text field and try to save the entry, the field will be emptied and the entry is not saved (no difference if new or edited entry). Can you replicate this behavior? If so, I really hope, it can be fixed soon.

    Greetings,
    Wolfram

    Wolfram,

I was unable to replicate your issue on a basic installation of ExpressionEngine 2.2.2

What web browser and Operating System are you using? What are you language settings for the Site and the Channel?

I’ve attached a screen shot of the successfully save entry. I used Safari 5.1 on Mac OS X 10.6.8

    Cheers,

    Dan,

seems I have found the problem now: PHP 5.3.5 or 5.3.6 (which are the default setting in MAMP 1.9.6.1 / MAMP 2.0.1) caused the problem on local installs (Mac Snow Leopard / Lion, Safari 5.1/Firefox) . The bug did also occur with EE 2.1.3 were I was not able to re-save an entry with Umlauten. (Funny enough, EE 1.6.8 did not have any problems.)

Switching MAMP tp PHP version 5.2.17 solves the issue for ExpressionEngine 2.

Is it possible to change the title of the thread to something more specific and move it to EE 2 Technical support? Maybe somebody else runs into the same problem?

    Greetings,
    Wolfram

    Wolfram,

Moving to EE2.x technical support. The title is fine and searches cover thread contents too so will be helpful for users regardless. Feel free to start a new thread if you have any more questions.
