I am setting up EE as a publishing platform and need to configure a contributor member group that can only submit certain items for review. So far I have:

    1) Set up a fairly restricted Contributor member group that can only post in certain channels.

    2) Added a custom status to the default status group, called “Pending”. Set up to all can see it.

    3) Restricted the Open and Closed status groups so that the Contributor cannot see them.

However, when I log in under my Contributer login, they still have access to all three statuses.

Also, they can change the Author in the “Options” tab, despite “Can change the author name when posting channel entries” is set to “No” in the member group.

    Am I doing something wrong?

In regards to changing the author name there is a radio button to toggle that under the Member Preferences for the member group. If you look under Channel Posting Priviliges you should see ‘Can change the author name when posting channel entries’.

Are the settings under the open/closed status (stati?) being saved?

    Hi Marcus

Yes, the statuses are being saved. I have went back to edit the open status and “can access status” is still checked as “no” for contributor. Regardless, the contributor can still see all 3 statues and posts by default as “open”.

‘Can change the author name when posting channel entries’ is also set to “no” for contributors.

    This is version 2.1.3

The site is almost ready to launch, so I really need to get this resolved soon! Any help appreciated.

Jamie, I took a look. Even tried creating a new channel and a new status group to see if maybe the system was just being silly. But even that did not fix it. I did test this on a 2.2.1 build that I have installed locally and that system did limit the status available to the user so at this point in time I think you may need to update the version of EE that you are running in order to get this to work.

After you have updated let me know if it is still exhibiting the same behavior.

    Hi Marcus

Thanks for looking into it, although I was kind of worried you would say that 😉

I upgraded another site and all of the files in the new file manager vanished (or had no thumbnail at least) - is there a way around this? Is that an ongoing issue?

    Jamie,

RE: the File Manager, did you sync your directories? Content-> Files-> File Upload Preferences, and then “Synchronize” next to each upload destination?

    Cheers,

Jamie, just let us know when you finish with the update if you have any issues. I’m going to close this for now but if you need me to reopen it just ping me.
