Safari 5.1 issues with EE 2.2.2 File Manager

    Hi,

I’m finding a couple of issues with the latest version of Safari (5.1) and EE 2.2.1 (and 2.2.2).

Firstly, every time I try to access the EE File Manager page via Safari 5.1, it takes forever to load and render. I get the spinning beach ball, and I’m noticing in Activity Monitor that Safari is going over 100% CPU and often freezes (Safari not responding). Eventually, it comes back, and lists the images/files in the page, but it seems very flaky.

Secondly, I can’t upload any “large” files via the File Manager upload window (panel?) in Safari. The File Manager seems to baulk at anything over 250KB (not exactly large!), but is able to upload large files fine if I’m logged in via Firefox or Google Chrome. I’m able to upload a 30MB AIFF file fine to the same site via Chrome, but the Safari / File Manager combo seems to be very problematic.

Anyone else experiencing this? Its not a big issue, given it works in other browsers, but I think it needs to be addressed.

    Nik

    Hi Nick,

I’m running both Safari 5.1 and EE 2.2.1, and I’m not seeing this issue at all. Did this start happening with the Safari upgrade or the EE upgrade? Are you experiencing the same issue on multiple EE sites? If so, what version EE are they running under? Try to test this out by changing a single variable at a time and noting the differences (server, EE installation, browser, etc.).

If you do a clean installation of EE, does the problem persist? (Not suggesting a clean re-install of your site, just a test installation for troubleshooting purposes.) Do you have a large number of files in the File Manager for the installation in question?

    Kevin,

This was an upgrade install, from 2.1.3 to 2.2.1. I haven’t tried a clean install yet. I need to do another upgrade install for a client shortly, so I’ll see if the same issue occurs. The client’s server is running Litespeed, so I’m expecting other issues to crop up as well.

Ok, keep me updated on what you find with the clean install and testing out other browsers.

My client is having the same problem as Nick. I can not replicate the problem though so this is driving me mad.

If I’m logged in as the same user trying to upload the same image (just over 400k), I can. The only difference seems to be the machine/location I’m trying it from.

    Any ideas appreciated.

    Thanks

Well… I’m not sure what the solution is, James. If you’re not able to reproduce it either, then I’m not sure we’d have any additional insight into it. Nik never returned to the thread, so I assume it means he found a solution. I’d be interested in hearing it. Perhaps he’d be willing to share?

I’d love to know if anyone has any ideas on this one. I’ve started a new thread as I’m not sure it’s the same problem, the client had the same with Safari 5.0 but has yet to confirm other browsers.
