I have been reading that Safecracker is now included with the latest updates to EE2.  I haven’t used it yet because I am unsure of exactly what and where it would be used.  Can anyone explain where I might want to look to use this? I keep reading about it and it seems a lot of developers can’t live without it. I am not sure what i am missing 😊

Safecracker allows users to add entries on the front-end, so extremely useful on lots of sites. So if I have a directory website, I use the safecracker tag to make a form where the public (or previously registered members) can submit a listing. Same as the publish screen in the control panel really, except on the front-end. The reason its called ‘safecracker’ is because it used to be called a ‘stand-alone entry form’, aka a SAEF. Barrett Newton then built an addon called safecracker which worked better, and Ellislab bought it, so its now included 😊

Thank for your reply.  That is good information and now I know exactly what I need to use it for with the site I am working.
