I’ve taken the mini calendar, removed all the table code and replace w/ ul and li.  So now I’ve got a vertical list of day_number(s) next to their respective entry content.

• 01- Event Entry Content
• 02- Event Entry Content
• 03- Event Entry Content
• 04- Event Entry Content
• 05- Event Entry Content
• 06- Event Entry Content
• 07- Event Entry Content

BUT ... here’s what I want:

• 01 MONDAY- Event Entry Content
• 02 TUESDAY- Entry Content
• 03 WEDNESDAY- Entry Content
• 04 THURSDAY- Entry Content
• 05 FRIDAY- Event Entry Content
• 06 SATURDAY- Event Entry Content
• 07 SUNDAY- Event Entry Content

I’ve tried this w/out success

{date format="%D"}

both inside and out side the entry tag

{entry}{date format="%D"}{/entry}

This is a fictitious tag but is descriptive of what I’m after

{day_name}

Any help/ideas would be greatly appreciated

I think the tag {date_heading} in conjunction with your Weblog Entries tag might be more suitable for what you want rather than the calendar tag

Thank you kindly for your suggestion, but I’m sorry to report it didn’t work.  That particular tag needs to be inside the entries tag like this ...

{entries}{date_heading}{/entries}

I need something that will render the day name ... ie Monday, Tuesday etc ... outside the entries tag, like the day_number tag.

That particular tag needs to be inside the entries tag like this ...

The tag is for the Channel Entries tag and not the Calendar tag. My suggestion is to not use the Calendar Tag but use the Channel Entries tag in combination with these date_headings

Have you checked out Solspace’s Calendar Module? It offers more flexibilty than EE’s standard calendar tag
