I was on EE 2.1 until 2.2 came out and upgraded to 2.2 pretty much immediately.

It all went fine but I’ve noticed that in a brand new install of EE 2.2.1 the setting for “Control Panel index page” is http://domain.com/system/index.php in the upgraded version but http://domain.com/admin.php in the fresh install.

Why the difference?  Does it matter?

    Hi, @digitalformula.

We added an admin.php to make it easier to use with MSM sites, and so you can use the same method for each site.

    Does that help?

    Hi Sue,

Yes, that helps clear up what admin.php is for.

However, does it matter that the upgraded site still has index.php as the CP page and the new install has admin.php?  Should I change the upgraded one so that the CP index page is admin.php, same as the new install?

    Hi, digitalformula -

That doesn’t matter,  we didn’t want to break people’s old links, of course.  It’s up to you if you change it, though.  Not necessary.

    Does that help?

    Hi Lisa,

Yep, that’s the answer I was looking for i.e. “it doesn’t matter.”  Thanks.
