OK I think I just spent 2 hours trying to setup the login form only to learn the login tags aren’t available with the freelancer version. Might help to post that somewhere on this page—> http://ellislab.com/expressionengine/user-guide/modules/member/login_form.html

Now to my question. Is there a way I can put a login form on my page using the freelancer version? If not, why did I pay $99 for “partial” usage of the software… :(

You’ll have to roll your own membership, I imagine, using a custom field group and someway to encrypt the passwords. If I remember correctly, the Freelancer version is intended for your company site. If you need a membership system and the site you to have it on is non-profit, $50 will get you an upgrade to a version where you’ll be able to do exactly what you want.

I just needed it to password protect some sensitive pages. I didn’t really need a full-blown membership system. I guess I’ll use another method. Thanks for the help

Hmm… you might be able to do such a thing with .htaccess files and some sort of scripting. If it’s something where only a small handful of folks (clients checking progress, etc) will be accessing, it should be relatively easy to do just not with the not-included Membership Module.

    Thanks for the assist, Brooks.

bjeanau - you can allow clients to access the backend, and then set up a link there for them to go to. Othrwise, you’d need to upgrade to a different version if you need more robust users.
