    Hello All,

Having some trouble running Installation Wizard.
I’ve purchased a commercial license and d/l the files.
I’ve uploaded all files via ftp to the hosting server (godaddy with php 5.2 and MySQL 5.0).
I’ve added the system path to the index.php.
    I’ve added all needed permissions.

When I try to run the installation wizard I get this message:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or ‘}’ in /home/content/p/t/m/ptmlaw/html/system/system/installer/core/Installer_Config.php on line 45

BTW, I’m following Expression Engine 2: A Quick-Start Guide by Ryan Irelan to a “T”.

Can someone please help me figure out the problem?
    Thanks!

    Hey guys,

This tends to indicate that you’re running PHP 4.  Have you double checked with the server check wizard to make sure your environment meets the minimum requirements?

    Hey Lisa,

Thanks for the response. You are absolutely right. I ran the check wizard as well as uploaded my own php file to call for the PHP version and both said I was running on PHP 4. Although Godaddy’s tech support swore up and down that I was running PHP 5.2, I was trying to give them the benefit of the doubt that it was on my end. This is not the first time Godaddy has been wrong and it wouldn’t be the last. I switched over to Enginehosting.com and it is amazing! Everything was already set up for me so I could start coding immediately. I would suggest to anyone having the same problem to pack up shop and go with Enginehosting. Good luck to everyone out there and thanks for the response Lisa!
