Im trying to learn EE. The only previous CMS experience I have is with Drupal which ive been using extensively for a few years.

Does anyone know of any EE documentation aimed at people with Drupal experience? Eg from watching some screencasts and Ive realised some of the EE names have a similar equivalent in Drupal.

    Thanks

    Hi James

Welcome to the forums. Obviously I tried searching the interweb to answer your question and didn’t really find anything useful.

Do you have any specific questions for us to have a crack at?

No not really. I just figured I can’t be the first to come this route so thought Id check if there was something.
    Thanks anyway.

Yeah, not sure of any “EE for Drupal users” sorts of docs.  Perhaps you could be the first.  😉

A great place to ask for help is Twitter using the hashtag #eecms.  I have added a number of people to Skype to walk them through things that way.  Of course, the forums and docs are good also.  😉

I’m also a Drupal developer who’s looking into ExpressionEngine for a project I’m getting ready to start. I’m just now investigating EE, so I’m really trying to just get over the sticker shock on some of the add-ons/extensions. James, what screencasts and documentation/tutorials have you found most helpful?

I’ve always found Train-EE to be a great learning resource. There are a bunch of free tutorials that cover EE1 (http://www.train-ee.com/courseware/free-tutorials/), which are still great for learning EE2 as the concepts are the same, along with a paid book that has updated and expanded information: http://www.train-ee.com/courseware/books/detail/building-an-expressionengine-2-site-small-business/

These screen casts aren’t bad. Personally I prefer learning (at least initially) from a screencast rather than an ebook.

    +1 for all of these!

Michael Boyink’s train-ee material is brilliant! As are Ryan Irelan’s.

Thanks, guys! I was digging through the EE site yesterday, and I came across both the Train-EE site and Mijingo. I figured the $50 for the Mijingo screencasts was a pretty good deal. Like you James, I tend to learn better via screencasts than text based tutorials.
