New to Expression Engine and I am trying to use the file manager to upload the static images for the design of my site, so far I can upload images via the file manager just fine but I am confused on how I should be referencing them from within my template and/or css?

Is there a tag or variable I can use to access them from within a template, how about setting a background in a css file?

Other than hard coding a link to them http://www.example.com/ee/images/uploads/banner.jpg I can’t figure out how to access them.

    Thanks, Eric

    Hi Eric,

    Welcome to the forums 😊

Typically users would only use the Filemanger for adding files to make available to published content and not for the design of you site.
There is no tag available using this method. When you upload a file to a custom field then the custom field name becomes your tag
Do you have access to an FTP client?

You would reference you image by adding the path to them as you have done.Just the standard image mark-up. If you find it easier then just use a relative path

    /ee/images/uploads/banner.jpg

    Does that help?
