Is it possible using the Member Module to allow users to upload a photo of themselves during registration?  I’d like to find an easy way of doing this without resorting to other modules or having to rebuild the registration process of the site I’m working on.

    Thanks in advance!

    Jonathan,

Just confirming—you definitely want this to occur at registration, i.e., it can’t wait until afterwards when the member could access their account (‘edit photo’ link)?

    Hi there,

Yes, my client wants users to add their images right at the outset.  I realise there are various arguments against this approach, but they’re certain that’s what they want!!

    Thanks,
    Jonathan.

There’s another option, which is that we are looking at a 4 step process:

    1. Register (stand alone registration form)
    2. (After verifying account) watch a video
    3. Agree to terms
    4. Add extra details

So once step 1 is complete and verified, their account is created, but they are yet to fill out more detailed profile info (happens in step 4).
The image upload could potentially happen in step 4, when they already have an account.

How would I go about creating a stand alone image upload field that would be fed into the user’s profile?  Which tag could I use?

    Thanks!
    Jonathan.

    Jonathan,

I don’t think that there is a native tag for this. I’d search for plugins / extensions, to see if one would fit your needs and budget.  See, for example:

    ==> search on devot:ee <==

Ah, that’s a shame.  Thanks for responding.

You could build a custom registration form with Solspace’s User module.

I’m having a similar problem I guess. EE2’s member module has limited options for custom member fields and no usable hooks.

Buying a 100$ module for what, with the right hooks, would be a 15min coding job in CI, is too much for me. I don’t have the extra budget. Is there really no alternative way to solve this?

    bottleboot,

you may want to post a specific question to the Development and Programming forum if you’re looking for a hook solution.

Oh ok, that’s a good idea.
I already posted one in Community Help, i guess that might not have been the best place.
Should i post it again in the Dev forum? I don’t want to spam the forum.
    Thanks for the reply.

Yea, I’d post in the correct forum and then reference your other post, in case a moderator / administrator wants to merge the threads.
