This question may be related to a resolved thread.

Hi I’ve been searching the forum but don’t seem to have resolved my issue you. When trying to install EE on a server I get the Database error occured message as soon as I click ‘Install Expression Engine’ on the first page of the installation wizard.

I followed the instructions for testing using the dbtest.php method and that’s was successful, once?? But when I refreshed the page after attempting the install again it now says it was unable to connect.

This is very confusing, any help would be appreciated.

I’ve been given an alternative db hostname which seems to work fine. Although they said it was a temporary hostname so I’m worry that it may stop working in a while.

I guess for now it avoids this problem.

    Hi, Luke.

Glad things are working again, but I agree, make sure you let your host know you don’t want to change the hostname since things are working again. Backup often!

If anything else comes up, please do let us know in a new thread..
