I am sure I am making a silly mistake but I am trying to show that little thumbnail icon of a tree enabling the user to upload an image to an article entry. In the custom field, I set to show formatting buttons to YES. And in the content entry field, the tree image icon does not display. What do I need to do to display the icon so a image can be added to a entry? Thanks in advance.

If it’s only an image you want to put in the field, make it an “file” field. Also try checking the “Show File Chooser” option.

Failing that, check with Firebug and see what’s lurking in the code. Could be a missing image!

Thanks for the tip! I actually had to create a file directory for me to upload the images to. Once created, all good. Thanks again! 😊

Oops. I thought it was solved. When I created a file upload directory through the file manager CP and I went to the file manager again and the browser produces this error. Sorry for the continuation of the problem.

ok, i managed to remove the error message by deleting the upload directory and created another one. And now, when I try to upload an image, there is an error that reads, “You did not select a file to upload.” even though I selected the image file.

Nice. Downloading the 2.1.4 now. Urgh. Thanks Cheif.

Hyun Lee, that particular error only cropped up when you tried to upload a second image in the same session. Is that what was happening to you?

I won’t argue against putting on EE 2.1.4 beta. 😊 Let us know what happens after you install it.

Hi Sue. I just upgraded to 2.1.4 beta. All looks ok except when I click on the “Template Manager” or “File Upload Preference” link in the CP, the browser is blank. Also, no sign of errors. I am stumped. Thanks.

Hmmm.. let’s make sure you have enough PHP memory allocated.

Have you seen: EEWiki:// HowTo Determine Memory Limits

    -and-

    EEWiki:// HowTo Override Memory Limitations

How much memory is allocated to PHP?

If it’s 32M or less, try upping to 64M.

Should I try to re-install from scratch? Although, I would hate re-do all the stuff I have done thus far.

What version was this upgraded from? Do you have a good db backup?

    What I’d try..

Backup your database. Clear out the database after making sure the database was saved correctly.

Then rename your system folder, theme folder, and put 2.1.4 in. I’d even go as far as using the Agile theme.

Does a basic install work as expected?

If it does, backup that database.

Then replace what’s in there with your own database.

    Does that help?
