I’ve created an XML file with 4000 members in it and I want to import it into ExpressionEngine.  I’ve crafted the XML exactly to the EE’s specifications and XML file is shown as valid with no errors when I test for validation.  There are a number of duplicate records in the file and as EE is importing, it points out all of these duplicates.  No other success or error messages are shown.  The title of the screen reads “Parse Error” and then there’s just all of these messages about duplicated.  When it’s over, I go to the Members tab and there’s not been a single new member added.  I look in the database at exp_members and no new members to be found.

Any advice on this or is there a better alternative tool out there?

We are running the latest version of ExpressionEngine: Version 2.1.3 Build 20101220

Never mind I see now… if EE sees a duplicate, that IS the error.  And it won’t parse any of the XML as a result.

    Hi upshot,

Yep, the member ID would be overwritten if that is the same as an existing record but the normal rules about adding members apply. Have you managed to sort this out now?

    Cheers
