Is there a way to change the default site so when a user logs in via the CP they are taken to that site by default rather than the existing one specified as “default_site”?

Brian, you can control which site user groups have access to. Have you tried that?

    Thanks for the response…

Yeah, that would work if this were a case in which users were segmented by that realm, but in this case, it’s a corporate entity and different sites that users all have access to. There is one in particular that gets the most use, but it isn’t set as default and people would like for it to default there. They use the CP to access it or I would build in redirects.

Brian, my experience has been that when I log back into the Control Panel after logging out that I go back into the site I was last in. For a fact you can’t change the default site in MSM because it is the one with the Control Panel and all the other elements that make a site. MSM simply gives you the option to add more sites onto that core structure.

Hmmm… maybe the guy before me modified something then.

Every time you log in to our system, you are automatically directed to the first site ever created in EE. Oddly though, that happens on my fresh install of EE2 as well though.

    Thanks for the assist, Forrest.

Brian, there is no graceful way of making a secondary site the primary site, but you can certainly create a masked control panel access, so that your content providers can go to http://site2.com/admin.php and you could do the same for the main site - http://site1.com/admin.php

    See: EEDocs:// Masked CP Access

    Does that help?

    Sue,

Yes that does. I don’t think I am going to worry about that though right now. We are in the process of rebuilding the site completely and this was just a “thorn” in some’s side. For the new site, I am doing in-line maintenance so it should be resolved. I just thought that if there were a “quick-fix” of sorts, that I would change the flag or whatever the fix was.

    Thanks to you both.

Sounds good.. sometimes rebuilding after you’ve learned how to use EE effectively is a “good thing.” Feel free to start a new thread if you have any more questions.
