Hi,
I am just making some changes to my Aunt’s EE 1.5 site. However, the Admin tab is missing. I am just wondering if her account has Admin privileges or not.
How can I tell?

You should (as far as I’m aware) be able to see the name of the Member Group in the admin panel as soon as you log in shown underneath the users name on the right hand sidebar. If that is hidden then you will need to show it first.
Best wishes,
Mark

But that’s the trouble, I can’t access the admin panel and there is no “Admin” tab. Please see attached screen shot.

Wowch ExpressionEngine 1.5.2! Been a while since I’ve seen that 😉
Are you able to login as a Super Admin? If so then you can just go to Admin > Members and Groups to see which group the member belongs to. If that’s not an option then you could try going to :
http://www.example.com/member/memberlist
and see if the memberlist shows up. If it does then click on the users name and it will show you their information.
Best wishes,
Mark

Not sure if I can log in as a super admin or not. How can I tell what kind of account it is?
I tried example.com/member/memberlist but there is no such file

You did exchange example.com for your own site name didn’t you?

I just checked the files on the server and there is no such directory as “member”

There won’t be a directory called member, that is a trigger word which is set within the admin panel so that when you visit it the members profile pages appear.
As this isn’t working for you I can only surmise that either the word was changed in the admin panel.
When you said above that there was no such file, what exactly did you mean? Do you mean you checked for it via FTP? If so then what I meant was for you to visit the URL in a browser.
Does that work at all?
Also did you originally create the site for your Aunt or not? If you didn’t and you haven’t been supplied with a Super Admin account then you will need to get in touch with whoever originally created the site in order to get one.
If that’s not possible but you have database access then you can get around this but let’s try and see if you can get anything if you visit that page first.
Best wishes,
Mark

I get a 404 error.
The site was created by a friend of my aunts, but I wasn’t sure if the admin panel was missing because it was an old version of EE, or whether it was because the type of login I am using.
The mysql database needs a password, which we don’t have, so I guess we’ll have to try and get in contact with him somehow.

Yep if you don’t have access to the database or a Super Admin account then you are going to need to get in touch with whoever created the site I’m afraid.
Best wishes,
