Hi, I’ve purchased and installed EE 2.1 and MSM 2.1 and I have followed the instructions on the following page to install MSM on EE:

    http://ellislab.com/expressionengine/user-guide/cp/sites/install.html

But I’m not able to edit my site. Any time I click the site button on the top right corner and click on any of options from the drop down I get a blank white screen? Can someone tell me how I can get this to work please?

    Thank you,

    Mike

Hi, Mike. Unfortunately I don’t see an EE license attached to this particular email address. We won’t be able to provide support without it.

Is this the email address you used when you purchased EE? You can send an email to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) to get the licensing stuff figured out so we can assist you.

    Hi Sue,

Sorry, I was logged in using the wrong account. One of our tech people had registered the software under a different email address. But we have it sorted out now. Please let me know if I’m good now.

    Thank you,

    Mike

Just to add to what I already posted. I tried placing the MSM files before the installation and after and it made no difference. Also, when I enter the license number in the admin > general configuration do I use my EE number or MSM number? Wasn’t sure how that works or if I even need to enter my MSM license anywhere.

    Thank you,

    Mike

    Hi, Mike.

You add the license number for EE into the Admin -> General Configuration

You mentioned you have EE 2.1, let’s double check your exact version of EE. Can you tell us which version/build of EE2.x you’re using? See EEWiki:// HowTo Determine My EE Version

Let’s also check how much memory is allocated to PHP

Have you seen: EEWiki:// HowTo Determine Memory Limits

    -and-

    EEWiki:// HowTo Override Memory Limitations

What third party add-ons are you using?

    Hi Sue,

Thanks for the reply. Here is the info:

    - The current version of ExpressionEngine is v2.1.0 Build 20110411

    - PHP Memory Limit: 128M

    - No third party add-ons installed

Let me know if you have any questions.

    Thank you,

    Mike

    Hi Mike,

It looks like there was a problem upgrading or installing your main site since the version number doesn’t match the build date. The version should be 2.1.3. Did you only just recently download and install EE or is this actually an upgrade from an earlier version or build? Have you developed your site at all yet?

    Cheers

    Greg

    Hi Greg,

Actually we purchased EE a few months back. We decided to go with EE but I just installed it now since I had time to start developing with it. So the version I have is from about 6-7 months ago. I don’t have any websites running on it yet. It’s all brand new.

    Thank you,

    Mike

It still looks like there is something else going on here.. the version number and build number aren’t in sync.

Can we have you look at the table structure for exp_members, (desc exp_members) and see what the value for email is set to? It should be varchar(72).

I think what we’re seeing there is the info from the EE Info accessory.  Can you copy and paste the very bottom text in your control panel for us? You should see our logo and copyright in the same block of information.

Also, you said this is a brand new installation, from a download 6-7 months ago? If so, how far along are you?  It may be worth simply installing fresh from 2.1.3 rather than going through the update process.

    Hi Lisa,

I downloaded EE 2.1.3 and installed it. Now it shows the following as the version in the page footer:

You are running the latest version of ExpressionEngine: Version 2.1.3 Build 20110411

I’ve activated the multi site option in the admin configuration and it now works 😊

    Thank you,

    Mike
