Using MSM for the first time, it took a couple of attempts to get a new site created correctly on our development server, and now that new site has a site ID of “4”. (Sites 2 and 3 were deleted.) However, on our production server we got it right the first time, and this new site has a site ID of “2”.

Is there any way to change one of these site IDs so that they match?

I guess I could create a couple of dummy sites on production until I get up to “4”, but I’m hoping there is a more elegant solution.

It is a difficult one.

Mike has a tutorial here for splitting up an MSM site but halfway through discusses the changing of the Site ID which may help you
