    Hello,

I am attempting to install ExpressionEngine 1.7 on a windows server.

MySQL is installed as well as PHP. Everything works fine up until the installation (/install.php?page=5).  I get the following error:

Error: Unable to perform the SQL queries needed to install this program. Please make sure your MySQL account has the proper GRANT privileges: CREATE, DROP, ALTER, INSERT, and DELETE

I am using the root user for MySQL in the installation, which by default has all of the permissions listed.  The dbtest.php says everything is OK (its connecting to the server).  I also read somewhere that MySQL Strict mode needs to be turned off.  I have also turned this off in MySQL, but I am still getting the above error.

    Any guidance would be appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Hi 92 West,

    Welcome to the forums!

Which version of MySQL are you using? Can you please run the Server Wizard to verify that your environment is set up correctly?

    Cheers

    Greg

    Hello,

Running ‘SELECT Version();’ on the MySQL server returns 5.5.8.

As for the server wizard, I have Yes’s next to everything except for “URL Segment Support”, which is suggested but not required, and “built in spell checker”, which is listed as optional.  So according to the server wizard I should be good to go!

Let me know if you need any more information to help along this request.

    Thank you

    Hi, 92 West.

Is this a professionally managed server? What happens if you create a new user account and double check they have all the privileges you need for installing?

    Hello,

If by professionally managed you mean that the instance is to be hosted with a hosting company, no.  It is on an in-house box running Windows 2003.  I have 3 years experience in web-hosting.  Creating a new user and assigning it all of the required privileges gives the same error upon installation.  Although creating a new user shouldn’t matter since the root user has all of the required privileges plus some.  All of the components(MySQL, Apache, PHP, etc.) are setup properly, and your tools verify this, but for some reason the application will not install.  I’d like to get this up and running as soon as possible.

    Thank you

Are you by any chance in STRICT_TRANS_TABLES mode? If so, that could be the issue.

    Hello Sue,

If you read the original post for this issue, you would see that I turned strict mode off.  I have verified this by doing SELECT @@GLOBAL.sql_mode;, and SELECT @@SESSION.sql_mode;.  They both returned “NO_AUTO_CREATE_USER, NO_ENGINE_SUBSTITUTION”.  So Strict Trans Tables is off.  I really need to get this installation setup ASAP.

To be honest, I’m going to need to ask for assistance on this. I don’t normally fiddle with Windows servers. Asking the dev team now. Thanks in advance for your patience.

    Hi, 92 West,

There is a bug report on MySQL 5.5 and EE 1.  You can find it here, including instructions for fixing it before we get a new release out so you don’t have to wait.

Does that help get you up and running?

92 West, EE 1.7.1 was just released with the fix you need in it. Please let us know if that fixes the problem for you.

    Hello Sue,

Changing the line containing timestamp fixed the issue.

    Thank you
