Template caching, page loading behavior

I have a site where sometimes the pages load seamlessly and other times the pages load jarringly, with a brief flash of the white background before the content appears. I have two basic kinds of templates: simple (little content, no plugins) and complex (more content, multiple plugins).

Whenever I navigate away from a page using a simple template, the page loads seamlessly, even if the page being navigated to is using a complex template. Whenever I navigate away from a page using a complex template, the page loads jarringly, even if the page being navigated to is using a simple template.

I don’t understand why this behavior is correlated to the page I’m navigating away from. I would like to get all of the pages loading seamlessly.

I’ve tried using template caching, but it doesn’t seem to affect the behavior.

I have another site on the same multi-site system in which all pages load seamlessly.

Note: the seamless vs. jarring loading of the pages does not seem to be related to internet connection speed.

I’m using the multi-site manager on version 2.1.3, build: 20101220

    Thanks!

    example pages? browser, system?
In short, can you replicate this same behaviour across multiple PC’s with different OS’s browsers, etc.
I would not be surprised if this is a browser issue, something like IE switching between compatibility mode for you without you knowing!

It’s occurring for me in Safari and FF on OS 10.6, haven’t been able to test yet on Windows. I was able to narrow it down to a specific flash plugin (flowplayer audio-only plugin), so this doesn’t look like an EE issue.

    Hiya all.

I’m having the same issue and here’s what’s happening in our case.

Templates that are not cached (yet) will go to a brief blank-screen, however if we do click again, it will go fast ahead into the new page load.

Not sure how to get around this (with un-cached (yet) pages/templates) as there’s not much on the forums either.

Anyone else having the same issue?

    Cheers.
