    the logs show this:
error /usr/bin/php: /opt/xml2/lib/libxml2.so.2: no version information available (required by /usr/bin/php
i have recently moved the site to a new semi-dedicated host as the site was starting to crash a lot due to traffic ( i think).

    tomwgf,

What version and build of EE are you using?
    Is your site functioning correctly?

Does your new server meet our general requirements and have you run our server wizard

Can you ask your host about the server error please

    thanks for replying.

    its ExpressionEngine 1.6.8

i did the ExpressionEngine 2.x Server Compatibility Wizard, though it is for 1.x not 1.6?
it was all Yes, Congratulations! Your server is ready to use ExpressionEngine!
does 1.6.8 have a problem with newer servers?

the hosts keep asking me to check with you, but originally they sent this:
‘I don’t see any IP getting blocked but I can see high number of error logs while accessing the site.

[Sat Mar 19 19:35:13 2011] [error] [client ip address] /usr/bin/php: /opt/xml2/lib/libxml2.so.2: no version information available (required by /usr/bin/php), referer: http://www.address.co.uk/index.php/home_cinema/home_cinema_amplifier/anthem_mrx-500/

When an image is uploaded to a page the admin area freezes and timesout.

It seems its an Editor problem.
I tried in the editor logi and it updates text fine but crashes when you upload an image.
i created new Editor - and the same thing happened.
But i cant see a setting in Members and groups that says Editors cant upload images.
Could it be something in the database causing this?

Whats also odd is that when the admin freezes i can’t see the front end of the site either.

1.x covers all the 1 branch of EE.

The errors point to you need to install the libxml2 library as PHP requires it
your host should be able to do this for you or depending on your semi-dedicated support plan you may have to do it yourself.

    hi
    thanks for this
i have asked the hosts to see what they can do about the php.

but why would it be that the Editor account is freezing bu the Super admin is fine???

Hi, Tom. You didn’t mention what kinds of files you’re having problems with.

You can turn off Apply XSS Filtering to uploaded files? at:

Admin ›  System Preferences ›  Security and Session Preferences

which should make it easier to upload by your editors group.

    hi sue
it was images we had problems with.
thanks for your suggestion - that certainly seems to have solved the problem!
but i will find out tomorrow if the client can do it from Editor too
thank you very much for your help

    Hi Sue
    yes!
turned off Apply XSS Filtering and editors can now upload images without freezing/timeout/losing admin and front end for minutes.
the only change made seems to have been an upgrade from to 5.2.16 and then to 5.2.17??
    anyway, it worked, so thanks
    tom
