    EE 2.14b 20110201 on EngineHosting.

    Hi,
This seems to have only just stopped working (that is, I’ve been able to upload images since I last upgraded to 2.14) and I did not have this problem before.

    PROBLEM 1:
Initially, when I went to upload an image (jpg) from an entry, or from the file manager (no matter which file upload directory I choose) I get the following error: “The filetype you are attempting to upload is not allowed.”

So, I went into the upload directory and changed file type from Image to All File Types.

    Now, I get PROBLEM 2:

The following error when I try to upload an image:“File Could Not Be Written to Disk.”

    ATTEMPTS TO FIX
I have created a test upload directory and that does not help. I’ve tried using both an entry and directly from the file manager. I’ve tried a variety of images, including ones I’ve upload before. I’ve also put in a ticket with EngineHosting on the outside chance it’s something on their side. [update - I’ve also tried a variety of browsers]

    Any thoughts?

I would first say check permissions on the folders and also to check your HD isn’t full.

The mere fact that it was working and now it’s not (with no changes from your end) tells me it’s more to do with the host than the install.

Thanks, Cheif. Did all that. Checked permissions, paths, checked with the host too (and they even ran it up with server admins just to be sure)

Thanks, CrescendoNZ - tried that one too (the XSS setting). Thanks, though, much appreciated.

Hi, budparr. Let us know what you find out from EH. You might want to check with a very small .jpg or .gif file to see if that goes in OK.

Hi Sue, nothing from EH - they confirmed it was nothing on their end. And, yes testing with various images was one of the first things I did. Still no luck.

    Hi budparr,

Can you upload the image successfully to this thread so we can experiment with it?

I’m attaching an example of one image. I’ve tried many, including a 1x1 pixel jpeg I created, and several others, as well as other file types.
Did I mention I even created new file upload directories in various places.

The image I’m attaching here is one I uploaded to the server via SFTP and am using on the site. So it resides in a file upload directory and does work on the front-end of the site.

Have you checked to see if you’ve hit your file quantity limit with your ISP? I get errors similar to this when I get to that ceiling.

    Brandon,

I migrated the site over to another host to test it out and I can upload images there just fine. So, it can’t be EE. EngineHosting says it’s nothing on their side, so if they’re right, it can only be a setting on my install, yet I’ve quadruple checked my paths and URLs. Any other ideas?

    Brandon,
Resolved - EngineHosting support found I was missing the uploadtemp folder above public_html.
