    Hello

We are migrating one of our EE 1.6.9 sites to a 1&1 shared hosting account.

Because the domain http://www.oursite.com hasn’t propagated yet, we are testing on 1&1’s complimentary domain which is:
    http://s359111277.websitehome.co.uk

At first I could only see a “Could not connect to database” page, so I edited the MySQL details in config.php, saved and refreshed the page. No more database error but it was a completely blank page.

I thought I’d try logging into http://s359111277.websitehome.co.uk/oursystemname/ and no dice, it redirects you to http://s359111277.websitehome.co.uk/oursystemname/index.php and still, blank white page.

I thought I’d check here before calling 1&1 technical support. COuld it be because I am trying to run EE on a subdomain?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    All the best,
    Uncommon Knowledge

    Does your
CP Home ›  Admin ›  System Preferences ›  General Configuration
have the correct location of the CP as far as URL?

My control panel is behind two directories, not just one…for instance:
    hearth.com/content/other_name/index.php
    not
    hearth.com/content/index.php

you could test this theory by putting another docs of some sort - an image or something else - in the same directory as your config.php file and not where you can access it correctly using the same URL as the control panel but with the doc name on the end instead of index.php

Also, check your config.php - the path to your control panel is listed in there (inserted by the prefs mentioned above).....

    Hi handyman

Thanks for the prompt reply, I did everything you suggested and then called 1&1 support. I’ve heard bad things about them but within 10 minutes the guy had sorted it for me.

He said he upgraded the version of PHP running on the server and all was well 😊

I guess this can be closed!

    Cheers,
