I’m getting ready to hand off a site to a client.  While I’m going to give them the information for the “Super Admin” account so they have it, I created an Admin account for them with most of the features removed other than publishing.  It will make it easier and less confusing if they only have what they need now.

However, I have some static information for various parts of the site saved in global variables and snippets.  When I go through the preferences for a group, there is a way to Grant Access to parts of the Add-ons section, such as just modules, or just extensions.  However, there is no way that I can see to give access to just snippets and global variables, without giving them full access to the Design section.  Even if I deny them permissions to modify the templates, they still have a bunch of stuff in there that they don’t even need to see.

Am I missing something, or is there another way to do this?

    Thanks!

Hi, wbdzynr. You might take a look over on Devot-ee.com to see if there are any third party methods for doing this.

Perhaps that can be a future enhancement?  Since most of the other areas allow for this type of control, it seems to only make sense.

    Thanks Sue!

I know it may not help in this case as you are already using global variables and snippets but I was just wondering (depending on what you have stored in then) could you get around this limitation for now by using a Stand Alone Entry form which has the client set as the author for certain entries and then they can edit them at their hearts content?

I know it would mean that they would have to go to two places to update items but you could probably style the page to look a lot like the Control Panel and then have links in each to allow them to go between the two.

    Best wishes,

    Mark
