A client of ours is having a strange issue. When they click the button to save an entry, the changes aren’t saved and they are taken back to the login page. They say they have this issue on IE as well as Safari and they have tried multiple computers. This issue seems to have started happening this week and no updates or new extensions have been installed that could have caused this.

No error messages are displayed after enabling debugging and the Apache log shows no errors. I can’t even replicate her issue on any of the computers in the office.

I’ve tried the following to see if they helped but they didn’t:

    - Change the session type for CP users (tried all)
    - Cleared cache and sessions
    - Client tried clearing their cookies and restarting their computer

We are running EE 1.6.8. I know it’s not the latest but since nothing new has been installed and since I can’t replicate her issue on my computer, I doubt upgrading would be any help.

I searched the forum for solutions and the closest I found was this topic: http://ellislab.com/forums/viewthread/160290/

I’m really stumped here, can you guys offer any suggestions as to what might be going on?

    Thanks for your help!

    cbtrussell,

It sounds like what was touched on by Brandon is related thread that there IP address might be changing.

Back in your Security settings set the following 3 to no

Process Form Data in Secure Mode
Require IP Address and User Agent for Login
Require IP Address and User Agent when receiving comments
