This question may be related to a resolved thread.
I’m having the same problem in EE 2.1.1 build 20101020. The bug report (https://support.ellislab.com/bugs/detail/12485/) says it’s been fixed.
Is there a fix for this, without having to upgrade to a new EE version?

It’s fixed in the current Beta, that is EE 2.1.4. There is no back-port, I am afraid, so upgrading would be your best option.
