    Hello,

When I do a google search on my company name—BIOM—I see in one of the listings the following description:

    Picture BIOM
<a href="http://www.biom.net">http://www.biom.net</a> | .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) | .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) ...
    <a href="http://www.biom.net/index.php/photoblog/image_med/535/">http://www.biom.net/index.php/photoblog/image_med/535/</a>

Why is google raising this JavaScript issue? In my template I encoded the email address—{encode="[email protected]" title="Email Michael"}.

    Thanks for your insights.

The email address is encoded with Javascript (which makes it harder for spammers to harvest the address). Usually only browsers perform such Javascript—Google, as you have seen, does not, showing the alternative text in your search excerpt.

So what’s the SEO workaround for this ... it’s obviously a turn-off for the search to get a ‘warning’ instead of the meta-description : /

Also ... my home page also has my email address encoded but the javascript warning is not showing up in the google description ... see below ...

    Thanks.

    Hi ramonekalsaw,

I’m not sure what you mean by ‘SEO workaround’, and what is ‘meta-description’ in this context? If want to change the text that is displayed when a non Javascript-enabled device accesses your site you can do that by editing the system/language/english/lang.core.php file and looking for the ‘encoded_email’ key. EE has no control over how your templates are indexed by search engines, that is completely up to you.

    Cheers

    Greg
