I recently launched a site for a friend’s artwork business that’s by far one the most involved EE sites I’ve worked on in awhile.
http://www.wallartdecorstore.com/
It’s running on EE 1.x, primarily because it uses the mighty Cartthrob for the shopping cart, and it’s not EE 2.x compatible yet.
In addition to the “standard” shopping cart stuff, the site contains a blog, testimonials, and the ability to create several different types of landing pages—example 1, example 2, example 3—for SEO purposes. This was accomplished through Structure and Playa.
One other minor detail that I’m rather proud of is the fact that nearly every page on the site has a completely customizable footer (example 1, example 2, example 3). There are about nine or so different footer layouts in all. The client wanted a lot of flexibility and control over the design and content of the footer area, which was pretty easy to do with EE, though the template code is a little convoluted (thank goodness for Switchee).
