In the past we copied the embed code from youtube and it was successfully embedded in the html on our EE website. Now, when we do the same thing expression engine does not save the code and the video does NOT appear.

We went back to look at the html coding for a video that was previously posted (still working) and the code has changed from what it was originally on Youtube. Does EE automatically the code when once it’s embedded? Is there a reason why I am unable to embed youtube video onto my website when it was working fine before?

    Thank you!

There are a few things to check for. In the Admin: Weblog Administration: Edit Preferences for the particular weblog, look under “Weblog Posting Preferences: and make sure “Default HTML formatting in section entries” is set to “Allow All HTML” and “Automatically turn URLs and email addresses into links?” is set to no. Is the youtube code being placed in its own field? If it’s placed in a text field with any kind of formatting set, the formatting may be converting characters and adding line breaks. Both will break you code. Set the formatting to “None”, if you can, and paste the embed again.

I received a PM from Richard Stadler asking about help for this problem in EE2.4, but there doesn’t seem to be a way to reply to PMs currently so I’m posting here.

    Richard,
In EE2, it’s in Admin: Channel Administration: Channels: Edit Preferences for the particular channel, look under “Channel Posting Preferences (4th section down): and make sure “Default HTML formatting in channel entries” is set to “Allow All HTML” and “Automatically turn URLs and email addresses into links?” is set to no. If you’re still having an issue, visit my site’s contact page (see my signature) and email me. I’ll see what I can do.
