Sorry if this is an obvious question, but I am coming from Wordpress, where you create your theme files in a text-editing program of choice (I use Coda for Mac). Is there a way to create the theme files and templates, etc, in an outside editor? Or do they all have to be created within the Control Panel of EE?

    Thanks!

Thanks, nevsie. Does that help, Brian?

Yeah, this helps some… I am just unsure of how EE is expecting the file system to be set up if your uploading a “theme” to a directory.
Also, are things like setting up channels and such only possible through the Control Panel? Or can you set that up through the files and have EE automatically pick those up?

Does this make sense? I am sorry I am such a Newbie. I am just so used to Wordpress’ way of setting themes up!

Hi, briankulp. Setting up channels and the like are done via the control panel. Templates you can set to be on the server, but not channels and categories.

    Does that help?
